    Plenary Indulgence – July 28th

    As part of the Year of Faith observances, Bishop Latino has designated The Cathedral of St. Peter the Apostle as one of the Year of Faith churches. Those who make a pilgrimage to pray or worship here on July 28, September 15 and/or November 24 are eligible for a plenary indulgence after fulfilling the normal requirements for an indulgence: going to confession, receiving the Eucharist and praying for the intentions of the Pope.

    A Plenary indulgence will also be granted upon “attending” a Year of Faith church and participating in a sacred celebration, or at least remaining for a congruous period of time in prayer and pious meditation, concluding with the recitation of: the Our Father, the Profession of Faith in any legitimate form, and invocations to the Blessed Virgin Mary and, depending on the circumstances, to the Holy Apostles and patron, participating in a sacred celebration, or at least remain for a congruous period of time in prayer and pious meditation, concluding with the recitation of the Our Father, the Profession of Faith in any legitimate form, and invocations to the Blessed Virgin Mary and, depending on the circumstances, to the Holy Apostles and patron saints”.

    Bishop Joseph Latino has designated the following parishes in the Diocese of Jackson as Year of Faith churches: Jackson – The Cathedral of St. Peter, Natchez – St. Mary Basilica, Camden – Sacred Heart, Cleveland – Our Lady of Victories, Columbus – Annunciation, Holly Springs – St. Joseph, Southaven – Christ the King, Tupelo – St. James, and Yazoo – City St. Mary.
