Protection of Children

Protection of Children

The Catholic Church has always demonstrated a concern for children. The Cathedral of St. Peter the Apostle and the Diocese of Jackson is committed to ensuring that children served by the church are not at risk of sexual abuse by the Church personnel.

All teachers, lay personnel (who directly interact with children), religious, priests and Cathedral staff members are required by the Diocese of Jackson to be enrolled in the Protection of Children program, which includes background screenings.  In addition, all are required to update their Protection of Children application every two years.
