Dr. Johnson presents teaching and insights that help to reveal the fruits of fuller engagement with God as we mature. This morning session offers the grounding principles, content, and competencies of spiritual growth in the maturing years. The session offers a “new and expanded vision” adult spiritual development that allows us to see our own maturation as an extension of God’s hand in our lives. This presentation helps you discover the interplay between the faith aspects of living with all other arenas of life structure: work, family, relationships, self-esteem, body image, and leisure. All of human growth and development is under-girded by spiritual development; this internal spiritual work only intensifies as we mature. Maturing adults have achieved a time in their lives when they can truly begin to discern a fuller horizon of the presence of Christ in their lives. They’ve arrived at a life space where issues of the heart and soul, issues of the interior, take on new meaning; a place where a new vision of life emerges with a passionate spiritual vigor heretofore unknown. It seems so spiritually wasteful to concentrate only on diversionary activities when real ‘soul food’ is needed, and can now be appreciated with a connoisseur’s palate. The session differentiates between and among the three distinct sub-groups of maturing adults: 1) Boomers: ages 55ish to around 72ish, 2) Builders: ages 73ish and above, and 3) Elders: Adults experiencing some physical or cognitive diminishment due to age. Come and be quenched in the central stream of growth for the maturing years.

This session presents a new vision of Faith Formation for Maturing Adults (FFMA) that calls for a fundamental transformation of how spiritually maturing adults see their true purpose in life as a child of God who has lived longer than most. We can become more intentional in our work to, with, and for maturing adults, and we can become more proactive, more assertive, and more focused in the fundamentals of faith formation in the maturing years. This new vision of FFMA includes an advancing appreciation for this later time of life as having immense spiritual purpose. Maturation is specially designed by God to bring us ever closer to God and closer to our true selves. Spiritual development never stops but intensifies as we move through our years… we can learn to see aging more accurately as a gift from God that it is! The larger Church needs to ‘be fully with’ its maturing children in their Illumination Stage of life; we cannot stand idly aside lest its favored sons and daughters begin drifting away, perhaps not in body, but certainly in mind and soul, devoid of purpose or direction, living unsatisfying life of diversion, personal uncertainty, and spiritual stagnation. The session presents a grand overview of the specific spiritual developmental needs of the maturing years.
* Morning, November 8th
Aging is not a “thief in the night,” rather, aging is one of the three “masters teachers” of life (the other two being relationships and sickness). Learn how to completely refresh and renew your view of maturation (aging) from one of loss to one of “a crown of glory.” This short session presents the 12 essential “keys” of aging and spirituality that transform aging from a potentially dismal time, into an ageless soul-adventure. After four years of research, these 12 keys were identified as the foundational principles of aging and spirituality letting us open-up to the special grace of our mature years, and taste life in abundance. The session covers aging and spirituality, aging with grace, with verve, and spiritual meaning and purpose. This session is a life-changing experience… sure to completely transform the way you look at aging and spirituality… a real “shot in the arm” especially for those who may resist aging but who want to become spiritually ageless. The presentation is for all maturing age groups: Boomers, Builders, and Elders.

Participants learn exactly what makes for a successful retirement transition and lifestyle. The session offers personal data upon which you can make the most effective choices regarding the how, when, where, and why of the retirement transition and retirement living; even if we are already fully retired. The session teaches that we never fully retire, we always have a ministry; yet we do transition (usually more than once) throughout our maturing years. The session teaches how to make retirement purposeful and meaningful so you can live your retirement with a purpose. Participants learn the 15 spiritual growth factors that transform retirement from an unfocused time of potential lethargy into a spiritual adventure. These 15, identified after years of research, are the core ingredients that spell the difference between retirement years of personal meaning and increased life, or conflicting fragmentation and lifelessness! Participants learn that retirement and the retirement transition is as much or more a psychological and a spiritual decision than it is a financial one. This session is designed for: 1) Persons wishing ministry with middle aged and more mature adults, 2) Persons preparing for retirement next month, next year, or ten years from now, and 3) Those already in retirement of some sort.
